November/December Class Schedule

Class Descriptions

Swimming
Technique and endurance training are both very important in using swimming as cardiovascular exercise or in becoming a better triathlete or swimmer.  This class incorporates both aspects simultaneously.  An endurance workout with drills and sets presented by a coach with an eye for technique is offered. Those who want to learn to swim, improve, or would like motivation to use swimming as exercise are encourage to register.
Focus will be on the front crawl including instruction on breathing technique, proper body position and balance, and basic stroke mechanics.  Breaststroke and backstroke will also be incorporated into the workout.

Indoor Spin Class
Those who have been cycling outdoors or are interested in learning more about cycling will find spinning a great class option.  Interval and tempo riding is incorporated into this class to providing an opportunity for a great workout.  The instructor will provide a variety of opportunities to allow riders to improve at their own levels whether it be beginner or advanced.  Cyclists interested in becoming a faster more efficient rider, prepare for or stay in shape through the winter for road or mountain cycling events, triathlon, or just want to get in a great workout be sure to register. You must provide your own bike, while stationary trainers are provided.

Anaerobic Threshold Testing
NEW!  For those who train with a Heart Rate Monitor this is an add-on to your spin class.  Arrangements will be made independent of spin class to complete an anaerobic threshold (AT) test.  This test helps to determine an individual athlete's correct HR zone for interval  and race/pace session training.  Training within this heart rate zone helps the athlete gauge the correct intensity for improvement in the body's ability to transport oxygen, increase the recruitment of fast oxidative glycolytic muscle fibers, remove metabolic waste products, shorten lactic acid clearance time, and improve aerobic and anaerobic functions.  By training in this zone, you can work to improve your AT, thus allowing you to race at higher intensity levels.  You must have your own HR monitor in order to participate.  Please indicate if you are interested in including this with your spin class this fall on the registration form.
